Daily PDF Challenge
One useful thing a day: a tip worth knowing, a task you can finish in a minute, or a single question worth thinking about. It changes daily and needs nothing from you.
Daily challenge
Ask one question that only exists between two documents
Study productivity
Open a report and its appendix — or a contract and its schedule — and ask what changed, what conflicts, or which deadline applies first. Questions that span documents are the ones a single-document chat cannot answer.
One a day, chosen by the date. No sign-up, no streak to lose — if you skip a day nothing happens. Only the date is remembered, and only in this browser. See the archive
Why it works this way
Most sites with a daily feature turn it into a streak, and a streak is a thing you can lose. Once there is something to lose, the feature stops being useful and starts being a chore with a small, silent guilt attached — and eventually a paid tier that promises not to lose it any more. This one has no account, nothing to lose, and no reminder unless you ask for one.
- No sign-up. There is no account to create because there is nothing here that needs one.
- No streak that breaks. Consecutive days are counted and shown, and missing a day simply stops the count — it never takes anything away.
- Skippable. Every day can be skipped, and a skipped day comes back the next day as normal.
- No reminders by default. Nothing nags you, and nothing is scheduled on your device without you asking.
- Nothing about your documents is recorded — only the date, in this browser.
What gets recorded
Only the dates on which you marked a challenge done, kept in this browser's local storage and never sent anywhere. That is enough to show a streak count and a tick on today's card, and it is not enough to identify you or to say anything about what you work on. Clearing your browser data erases it, and there is no server copy because there is no server.
The full rotation
These are all 15 entries, shown in order. They repeat every 15 days, which is chosen to be long enough that the same one does not come round while it is still fresh. Today's is marked below.

Stop guessing at an attachment limit
An email server that rejects anything over 1 MB does not compress your PDF for you — it refuses to send the message. Compress to the exact size the limit asks for, and you find out immediately whether you were under it or not.

OCR a scan before asking an AI tool about it
An AI tool reads the text layer of a PDF. A scan has no text layer, so it has almost nothing to answer from — which is why asking about a photographed page usually returns something vague. Run OCR PDF first, then ask the question.

Open one PDF you are about to send, and read page one
Not the whole thing — page one. Black bars from a redacted copy, a leftover editing note, a signature field, an embarrassing filename in the title bar. It takes thirty seconds and it is the single most common way a mistake leaves an office.

Turn one page of notes into five questions
Do not re-read your notes a fourth time. Close them, write five questions from memory, then open the notes to check. The re-reading felt like studying; the questions are the test.

Which tool is for making a page range into a separate file?
You have a 300-page manual and need only chapter 4 as its own PDF. What do you use?

A 40 MB PDF that is only twelve pages. Why is it so large?
Twelve pages should be a small file. Something else is going on. What is it most likely?

Name files for the person who opens them second
The person who opens your file knows the filename before they know what it contains. Something like scan-2026-10-09.pdf tells them nothing; q3-contract-final-v4-signed.pdf tells them the version they are holding.

Flatten before you send a form-fillable PDF
A PDF that still contains fields can be filled in by someone else, and the values can change without the file changing size. Flatten it and the text becomes part of the page — final, and not editable by accident.

Which study method actually performs best?
Four students revise the same material the same number of hours. Who does best on the test a week later?

Count the pages you expect, and check the file delivers them
Open a PDF you are about to submit and confirm the page count matches what you intended. A PDF that is missing its last two pages looks exactly like one that was meant to end there.

Merge in the right order, and check it after
Merge joins files exactly as listed, so the order in your list is the order in the document. Drag the rows before you merge rather than after — reordering pages inside a finished PDF means rebuilding it.

Straighten a scan before anything else
A scan tilted two degrees makes every crop guess, every margin trim, and every OCR line slightly wrong. Deskew it first; every later step gets easier and more accurate.

You need a PDF that cannot be opened without a password. Which tool?
Two tools sound similar here. One of them is what you want.

Run OCR once, then use everything else on the real text
If a document needs OCR, do it as its own step and carry the result forward. Every later tool — summarising, translating, asking questions — gets better text and produces a better result.
